REFLECTION: Crew Manager and Ex Corporal Graeme Mathew Brown was a family man who was a loving husband to wife Natalie doting father to 'his wee princess' Ellie Louise, Conner, and his stepson Scott. Matty passed away on duty, on February 27th, 2018, in the middle of a flight emergency while assisting a fire dispatcher, from a sudden heart attack.
From his ceremony texts: "Although his given name was Graeme he was fondly known as 'Matty Brown' or to his close circle of friends SAS Brown. He was military through and through, he had completed 12 years in the Army saw the light and transferred to the Royal Air Force as a firefighter where he spent the next 18 years, 30 years man and boy of military service.
Being the soldier that he was he loved nothing better than being out on detachment and completed several tours including the Falkland Islands, Basra, and Bastion notably whilst at Bastion he would always volunteer to move forward to the Forward Operating Bases as part of the Forward Fire Safety Team, although he joined the RAF his first love was always the Army and this was a way for him to recapture that and this is why he had the nickname, SAS Brown.
Matty was the epitome of a team player he could always be relied upon, he was honest and straightforward, he had such a positive attitude; even when the chips were down he was able to lift peoples spirits. He was also the chief scrounger whilst at Bastion he went out to complete a job, upon his return he brought back with him a broken slush puppy machine, he fixed the machine and the crew where drinking ice cold slushies in 45 degrees of heat this was the Graeme Mathew Brown that everyone loved to be around."
